The trailhawk has a stock lift. If i buy an aftermarket lift what happens to the stock lift? Is it cumulative or removed?
Welcome to the forum. I have never heard of the Trailhawk stock lift being removed to install an aftermarket lift. Should be cumulative. If it were removed you would only gain 1/2 inch on a 1 1/2. It wouldn't be worth it. What lift are you interested in?
Rocky Road has an 1 5/8 lift. We have their bullbar winch mount / skid plate coming. Theres Avids kit, which is 200$. Something like that. We could go up to a 235 tire with the 1 5/8 correct?
You might want to check to see if you would need to add spacers or do the pinch seam mod or both. Rocky Road should be able to give you some info about their lift. Avid has nice products. Good luck.
I could be wrong on this but I dont think the trailhawk renegade has any factory suspension lift. It looks like the additional .5" ground clearance is achieved by the larger tire diameter, a 1" larger tire will equate to .5" of additional ground clearance.
The TrailHawk doesn't have a lift persay, it's just slightly taller springs that give about another inch of clearance then the rest of the models. Any kind of lift added will just enhance what is already there unless your planning on changing the springs out as well.
We went Avid as many people are. Mounting this Saturday. I'm certain the 235 65 r17 atturo trailblade x/t tires will fit, ive got confirmed info from builders and forum users.
Good luck with the install. If you can, please post some pictures so we can see how it looks. Will you need spacers with the 235/65/17's?
We heard from a vendor of aftermarket parts that with the 1.5" Avid lift the 235 65 will fit with no spacers or seam mod. Also, the Avid kit doesn't need a leveling, its got a built in offset in the front spacers.
I've read that if you use wheel spacers or wheels with offset <>40(+/-5) you get rub unless you add spring mod. If you use stock wheel or similar, no rub. (w/ 235/65 17R)
The only regret is not doing it myself. Or having a pro Jeep shop that knows lifts do it. If you can't do it yourself, get a pro 4x4 shop to do it for you. And be clear on the fact that Avid sends instructions for the 2" kit and the 1.5 inch kit doesn't require spacers so you can skip those steps.
I disagree because I test drove a latitude and my Trailhawk and the Trailhawk definitely has a harder suspension so there is a difference in the coil springs .
Yes, the Trailhawk has stronger springs which would increase height, plus the tires are a 215/65/17 which would also add a little.
Old thread, been verified Trailhawk does in fact use different, taller/stiffer springs from other trims.
