Just pulled the plugs today. 39,993 miles. Guess what? Bad already! Check em out- the compression seals are all blown. Left unattended, this could cause loss of power, economy, etc. not to mention- that's combustion gas... it has a tendency to scorch the coil boots necessitating replacement of those too. Check em people! It's easy and cheap to replace.

What engine do you have? The recommended mileage for changing the spark plugs is 30k for the 1.4L and 100k for the 2.4L.

Going to check mine today - those look pretty awful for 30k. Thanks for the heads up rallycar!

Nitrous is hard on the plugs.;)

The porcelain discoloration with that few of miles on it does look interesting considering how well plugs are shielded.

We changed ours around 40,000 miles and replaced them with the NGK laser iridiums. Ours did not look as bad as yours, but there has been a definite performance improvement, especially when pulling he trailer. Thanks for the reminder:)

Changed mine today before the rain rolled in. I was surprised how trashed they were. When I fired up the engine again I hadn’t realized how bad the rough idle have gotten. Smooth as glass now! Thanks for the heads up guys

So is it that the stock plugs are just bad? Or will we have to replace all plugs forever after 20k miles?

thanks for this thread, I don't think I would have even thought about checking my plugs yet as my DesertHawk is still only about 26,500 miles but sure enough my plugs were almost as bad as yours and one of them was cross threaded, I almost couldn't get it out. Replaced them with NGK Iridium IX plugs last night and sure enough my renny had more enthusiasm this morning. Still have other issues but my engine at idle is almost back to how it was a year ago.

Thanks for the heads up, man! Probably will have to check mine this weekend. Got about 45K on mine. This is kind of dissapointing news, really. Do you think it's the engine's fault, or the plug itself? Also, how much torque are you using on the plugs once you install?

Just replaced mine at 25,800 miles. They looks almost as bad as yours. There is no way these things would last 100K miles...

What gap did you use for the new plugs? I have seen 2 different gaps, .044 and .047. Not sure which one to use.

Just replaced mine yesterday. Here's a photo.
I have a 2.4L non-turbo engine (the Tiger Shark Multi-Air) I ended up going with .047 gap, bought these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BRBVFKA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Immediate performance upgrade. Sooo glad I caught this post, believe me!
