I've notice on this forum and others that a decent handful of people switched to a Renegade after their older Liberty just wasn't cutting it. Over on Jalopnik, they have a bit of a takedown on the Liberty.

    A sample:

"The problem with the Liberty is the quintessential problem of all truly Meh cars: who gives a shit? It wasn’t an especially good off-roader, it wasn’t a really comfortable or full-featured SUV, its engine was sort of underpowered for the weight, the re-design got rid of any interesting design cues, and it wasn’t even as crappy as the Patriot or Compass, so it can’t even be notable for sucking dramatically.

"The Liberty, like all meh cars, wasn’t horrible: the 3.7-liter Powertech V6 made 210 horsepower and wasn’t that bad, the interior space was about on par with any number of other boring SUVs, and it could do some off-roading, if you wanted. It did its basic job with delirious adequacy."

The article and the comments are a pretty amusing read. Any Liberty fans or haters out there?

I enjoy "Meh Car Monday ", but I'm not sure the Liberty fits. Was fun to read, though.

I had a 2002 Liberty Limited that was a daily driver until a couple of months ago. It had 246000 miles on it when my son got in an accident. The only things I had to do to it was replaced the AC compressor once and the water pump once. I loved the vehicle and it never left me stuck anywhere.

I probably would still be driving the Liberty to this day if it didn’t get wrecked.

    2004 purchased w 40K miles on it.
10 yrs later........rockers have rusted by rear wheels. Window motor replaced on drivers side and the AC charged.
Rotors and brakes. That and a relay, only repairs.

Leather interior, dunno if orig owner put wrong shocks on or what, it's stiff..........jittery.
Freakin hate it, makes me ill to ride in it. Seriously. The anemic 3.7 uses some oil now.

My buddy had a CRD w cloth seats and I could ride in it for a couple hrs comfortably.

Hate the old Liberty as much as the WJ.

Do think the first version Liberty to look better than last version.
Last version more comfy though (buddy has had one for some time- been a decent DD).
