I've been wanting to add a subwoofer to my renegade, but can't decide on where to put it. I have a big dog, 115 lbs, that barely fits in the back as it is. So, I don't want to just throw a box in the back and call it good. I wish JL made a stealthbox.. I think there are shallow mount woofers that can fit under the seats, but I'm not confident that those will have enough bass. Has anyone added a subwoofer to their renegade? Pictures would be great.
115 lbs dog, sounds like you've got a sub(stantial)woofer in the back already.. Sent from my SM-G935F using ToasterJeep mobile app
Ah, that would be great... but, I forgot to mention that I don't have the same cargo area as that. I have little nets on both sides of mine. I'd post a pic, but my rene is still 900 miles away waiting for a new motor...
If you dan't have the spare tire, check out what I did in this section of the forum: https://www.toasterjeep.com/index.p...install-with-oem-beats-system.1145/#post-9719
Nice setup. Unfortunately, I do have a full size spare in the back and intend on keeping it there. I'm thinking a custom made fiberglass box that contours into the passenger side cargo area is the best bet.
your best bet may be to find someone to custom make some subs to go under the front seats, if you don't have the power seats there is all sorts of room under there.
This was a thought as well. I am just concerned about the quality and output of the shallowmount subs. Maybe things have gotten better recently, but the last shallowmounts I heard were exactly that... shallow bass. However, I do have the power driver seat but passenger is not so there may be room under there.
Yeah, that has been my experience with shallow mounts. What I ended up doing with my set up is put the amps under the seats, and my 2 subs in their own separate boxes. That way, if I need the room, I can easily take one out, but still have some decent sound. The subs are Sundown Audio SA-8.v3. This has worked for me so far. I am able to pack everything I need into the Jeep for my deli on a daily basis. I have only had to remove the smaller box a couple of times. Trips with the family have had plenty of room with both boxes, even when we bring along our Greyhound (62lbs dog, all elbows).
What about tucking a kicker hideaway under a seat somewhere, its not the biggest sub at 8in but they are low profile and have an amp included
I've thought about these, but my concern is that it won't be enough bass. I need to get my hands on one to listen in person.
I've seen them set up at my local Best Buy... I didn't play with them but most of the big car audio companies have a similar product. Sent from my S60 using ToasterJeep mobile app
I've seen the "spare tire" setups. Unfortunately, I want to keep my spare in there. Lol, I know I'm being difficult shooting down all of the proposed solutions. I think I might just go with one of the new JL shallow mounts. https://www1.crutchfield.com/p_136110TGW3/JL-Audio-CS110TG-TW3.html
Well I'm trying to build in the spare area. I moved my tire to a tj mount on my tailgate(don't do what I did...) I'm gonna put a 10 or 12 and an amp
There are options now to put a subwoofer in the center of the spare tire. You flip the spare upside down first and get a shorter bolt. There are premade ones and some people build their own with fiberglass. Do a little research on it. I just googled "spare tire subwoofer".
I have the kicker in my keep and love it. I upgraded all the speakers and added the sub. It all sounds great. Shakes the bacon but not the whole street. Sent from my iPad using ToasterJeep mobile app
