So...I took off the back panel, drilled out some holes and mounted some LED lights in the headlights and wired them to one of the rear cargo lights so they only switch on when the rear lift gate is opened.
thats sweet. i have little led pods from work i was going to wire up and bolt on. got any pics of where you tapped power from?
It's the cargo light on the right that's lit up in the last picture. There's a little groove on the light and if you stick a flat head in there and pry it'll pop out. There's a small clip plugged in to power the light. There's where you'll find the power and ground I used.
Write up or not the one thing I'm not comfortable with is electrical... Hell I will/have done tons of wrenching but will turn over any wiring to other friends to do....
Well the way I did it was using "t-tap" connectors so there's no splicing or fancy tools involved to wire these little guys up. The connectors pinch the existing wires (just power and ground) and the other wires from the lights simply clip into the connectors. Super super easy.
I did mine to it was well worth it!!! I think I am going to wire a few of these LEDS in the rear reflectors fore reverse lights and wire a few for turn signals to.
