I have a stock 2016 Renegade Latitude, 2.4 liter with the automatic transmission, stock all the way.
I needed to take a ride today to clear my head from the week of work, life and everything else.
I live in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, good old highway 129N out of Cleveland Ga. Nice road, good banking, no pot holes!!
I dropped in behind of a new Corvette and we attacked that stretch of highway like it was our worst enemy ever!
All I can say is wow! This is the same route I take on my 500cc Yamaha on occasion and let me tell you folks, that Renegade Latitude took to those turns like it was gonna eat up that Corvette and spit out cogs alongside the road in it's aftermath!
Balanced, Grippy, no oversteer or understeer! Smooth braking, smooth acceleration with no a hint of transmission lag. I used automatic drive on the uphills and manual shift on the downhill. Smooth in and out of the curves in both! Only thing I did notice was the transmission temps did climb a bit into the high 180's and lower 190's when I was hitting the hard downhill transmission braking, maybe a bit beefier transmission cooler would be warranted if you planned on a lot of aggressive mountain driving.
All in all, Fiat heritage and Jeep refinement make for one fine driving automobile!!
