Just picked my Renegade up Tuesday night. Yesterday, I started to experience a grinding/squealing noise from the rear axle I assume. Sounds like a train when it applies its brakes. It doesn't happen when applying the brakes just intermittently while driving. I'm probably gonna have to take it in, but wondering if anyone else has experienced this. To me it sounds as though it is probably a brake dust cover, rotor, or some similar issue. Again it happens when NOT applying the brakes which leads me to believe it isn't a rock or dust that's trapped.
Late to the party here, but did you ever happen to find a solution? I've had a similar noise twice now, but haven't been able to pinpoint a cause or location other than somewhere in the rear half. Intermittent squealing (not coinciding with braking, accelerating, or going over rough roads) and some odd deep rattle noises. I was thinking maybe junk occasionally builds up around the rear suspension and yells when the springs move just right?
Same here Chrisp88. Observed it same like your symptoms at around my first 2,000 miles and so I figured it's a cheapo Italian OEM parts. By luck, I had the dealer replaced them with new assemblies because the calipers failed all of a sudden and warped the rotors. With the new replacement assemblies, noise are gone.
