Any one with a 1.4L Turbo know why there is a vacuum line running from the stock airbox to the charge side of the intake between the boost sensor and the throttle body? Isn't this basically introducing a vacuum leak?

The bit of playing around with it I have done is I put a breather filter on the end of it on the charged intake side. I did this mainly because I forgot to add a port for this vacuum line on the short ram intake I installed, I didn't have any T connectors, and it was REALLY cold Saturday and I wanted to be done.

I drove around for the weekend with this setup. Nothing seemed to change in anything really, even gas mileage stayed the same. Just more whoosh-ssspshhhh noises from the short ram intake (sorry, but the 16 year old in me likes that, and so does my son 7 year old son).

Today, before I went to work, I removed the breather filter and just capped the barb on the charge side of the intake. The Toaster seemed to pull harder, sooner while accelerating, but that could just be a placebo effect. Driveability didn't seem to be affected at all. I won't be able to check if it affects mileage until I fill the fuel tank and run through it, just for comparison.

Mostly this is just a curiosity. After a tank of fuel or two I am probably going to put the breather back on until this weekend when I can tap a new vacuum port into the intake. Besides, we all know that breather filters immediately add +25whp and +2 street cred so why not.

Anyone have any idea why that vacuum port is there?
