After some hemming and hawwing, I Went and saved my pennies and got the Bluetooth one in 93 octane. Came in this morning and I got it all installed after work.

The ECM hooks up really easily. Just make sure all the connectors are fully seated. Like really press them in. I made this mistake with the boost sensor and the Toaster freaked when I first started it up.

Checked the connections, Cleared the code, let everything warm up, locked the 4x4, fully shut off the electronic stability control, and away I went.

I ran it in Sport+ mode. I will play with Eco mode tomorrow. Interestingly, the ECM does not activate in first gear, but immediately fires when I hit second. The Jeep is a blast to row through the gears in that mode. The thing pulls like my old Audi TT 1.8t. The ECM may behave differently in different modes. Dont know yet.

The ECM magic also only kicks in when the snail spools up. So when just cruising on the highway below 2.5k rpm, your mpg's will be the same.

I do a lot of highway driving and load about 300-400 pounds of stuff into the Toaster for my deli every day. So I was looking for more oomph on the Boston Area highways, and this is just the thing I was looking for.

Very much worth the investment in my opinion.

So here are some thoughts on the different modes after my morning commute using my version of the Butt-Dyno:

The Toaster runs the same before the turbo spools up, no matter which mode the ECM is in.

This means that you will still have excellent gas mileage while cruising on the highway. This morning I pushed 32-33 mpg highway, with my combined being around 28 mpg, which is right where the Toaster usually sits.

    Settings:

I am not saying that this is the best way to use these modes, I was just playing around and these are my impressions. If you want to bomb around in Sport+ all day, or never leave Eco, then go right ahead, it is your Jeep.

Eco: I found this to be the most useful when tooling around Boston and off-roading in Chelsea and Everett. Bit more power down low, but nothing crazy. The biggest difference is noticed with 4x4 locked and a lot of stuff in the Jeep.

Sport: This is my highway setting. Power when I need it, and it pulls hard through the mid to upper range. More punch when you step on it.

Sport+: Giggle mode. My son now call the Toaster "GiggleJeep" because it makes him giggle when I accelerate. The punch you get from this mode is VERY noticeable and it pulls very hard from 3k-5k. This mode also likes WOT all the time. Very entertaining way to ruin your mileage.

You can also turn it off if you like.

This is the final mod engine mod I am putting on the Toaster for a while. May look into getting a turbo back exhaust when more options become available.

Again, I have to say that this ECM is very much worth the price.

    Just a word of warning:

You will ruin your mileage for the first few weeks. And you will have a blast doing it! :D
