So, I've looked far and near and really, there are zero mud terrain tires available in anything close to a 215/65R17. As far as something closer to an all terrain tire goes, the closest thing I could find is the Hankook Winter iPike W409 which come in a 215 /65 R17, is only $95 a piece through Discount Tire and looks like this.

Unfortunately, I'm not a big Hankook tire fan and I really don't like the idea of directional tires but, there are a ton of sipes on the tread and it might actually do well in the winter.

Now, if it's possible to run a 16" wheel on the Renegade, there are a few more options available that I think would work out pretty good if not look awesome. The first of which is the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 which comes in a 215 /70 R16 and is only $135 a piece through Discount Tire.

Another option that I would consider are the Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S which come in a 215 /70 R16 and cost $116 a piece through Discount Tire.

    But, what I'd really want to run are a set of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO's which come in a 215 /70 R16
and cost $186 a piece through Discount Tire. These by far would look the best and, from having run them in the past, know they work well off road as well.

Of course, I would prefer to run a set of the new BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2's but, the smallest size they are available in is a 225/75R16.

At SEMA, the Jeep Renegade Frostbite that Mopar had on display was wearing a set of 225/60R17's but a 75R16 might be a bit too big to run without a bit more lift or clearancing of the fenders wells.

Please note that this is all based on a relatively quick search using Discount Tire's website and if you guys know of any other options, I would love to hear about them :D

Check it out, I just saw that Toyo offers their Open Country A/T II in a 215/70R16 as well. If I can find a set of 16" wheels that will work on the Renegade, I would really have to consider these as well.

Nice! Tires are definitely one of the first things I'd like to upgrade.

If sales of the Renegade are good in the first half of the year, do you think tire companies would start looking at providing more options in the size or is just not worth it to mold a new tire for a specific vehicle? The KO2's would be a great tire for this vehicle, though I would still like to see Duractracs make their way onto a Trailhawk.

I would very happy if we could fit KO's or KO2's.
When I went to go see the Renegade at the LA Auto Show, the first thing I noticed I'd like to see change was a slightly more aggressive tire.

Agreed. BFG makes a KO that should fit so long as you're willing to run 16" wheels. This might be my very first upgrade :)

I think I would rather spend the almost $200 on the BFG's rather then the $100 on the hankook. The toyos would be nice also.

Agreed. You definitely get what you pay for and I've had pretty good results running BFG's in the past.

I found Discount Tire has posted that there are new sizes coming out in October for the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2's:
    LT215/70R16 (27.85")
    LT225/70R16 (28.40")
    LT225/65R17 (28.52")
    http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/1...drich-all-terrain-t-ko2-here.html#post8394186

The 215/70R16 you want is there along with a 225/70R16 and they have a 225/65R17.
Do you think the wider 225/65R17 would be okay on the stock Trailhwak wheels or would they rub, also they are a 1/2" taller?
Same question for the 225/70R16 ?

That is awesome news and I would totally run these tires!! Thank you so much for posting this up!!

Regarding the larger tire sizes, the Mopar SEMA Jeeps were running 225/60R17 and the fit was tight but doable. With a small lift, I bet you could do it without any problems. Certainly, I'd want to try :)

What about this tire in 235/65/17? Stock is 28 inches, this tire is 29 inches tall and .75 wider. It's not much but maybe... And they are 145 a piece thru DTD. If the base model comes with 16 inch wheels, unless the trail hawk has larger brakes those wheels "should" fit. Find some take off's (someday) or get the specs and order up a set of steelies!

Hi Wayoflife, now that you have Renny, can you tell if 16" wheels will fit over the 12" Trailhawk brake rotors and calipers?

It's hard to tell for sure just by looking at it. I'm gonna try and rack Renny today and do a thorough once over underneath and I will be sure to pull the wheels and take some measurements. I sure hope so though as there really are so many more tire choices in a 16" wheel.

While your measuring, can you see if we can stay with the 17" wheels and go wider, there are a number of options to look at:

    225/65R17 - BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2

    235/60R17 - Cooper Discoverer A/T3

    235/65R17
    Toyo Open Country A/T II
    Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2
    Firestone Destination A/T

You bet. The tires that come on the Renegades look like skinny jeans. Replacing them with a set that is slightly wider and getting wheels with a little less offset would be ideal. We would love to run a set of Toyo Open Country A/T II or BFG A/T KO2's.

Okay, just did a quick check and here's the deal. The Trailhawk brake calipers sit about 3/4" from the inside of the 17" wheel. Needless to say, that's a bit too close to go down to a 16" wheel assuming the shape of the wheel is exactly the same. In order to make it work, you would definitely need to get a 16" wheel with an interior profile that is slimmer (which is unlikely to happen) and/or get a wheel with less offset or even a little bit of back spacing. The further out you can make the wheel stick out, the more room you should have on the wheel. Of course, none of this would be a bad thing per se being that a slightly wider stance would be nice to have. The issue would come into play with up travel as if you do this, you could rub the fenders as the tires would no longer tuck up inside the fender wells. A bit of lift would help this issue though.

Thanks for checking, it's looking like the 16" wheels and tires are in doubt. The 2014/2015 Cherokee has the the same issue and is limited to 17" minimum wheels as well. It does have the same 5x110 bolt pattern, stock size is 17x7 with a 40 offset I believe. Maybe there are some wheels from the new Cherokee camp that would be useful?

The Hard Steel Concept had 16's and they look like the stock wheels for the latitude, so maybe that's the easy alternative. Of course show cars don't have to drive anywhere either.

If you think a 17x8 would fit, here are some possibilities from a Tirerack Cherokee search:

    Ultra Spline CUV Bright PVD

Ultra Decoy CUV Black w/Spot Milling

    Ultra Spline CUV Silver Painted

Ultra Spline CUV Machined w/Black Accent

KMC XD Series XD818 Heist Black w/Spot Milling

KMC XD Series XD818 Heist Black w/Milled Accent

Well hey now, some of them wheels look pretty nice and I bet they would look great on a Renegade!! The only potential problem I can foresee is that unless you can get these wheels with offset to counteract the additional width, you might have rubbing issues. I have a friend at KMC and I may just have to give him a call :)

    Thanks for posting this up.
