I really like my 2015 Renegade, however there are two issues . First issue is the tranny behavior at zero to thirty mph. It cannot seem to decide which gear it is to be in, subtly up shifting and down shifting. Dealer performed several "computer flashs" some they said pertained to said issue. Why the heck did a 4 banger need to coupled a 9 speed? Second issue, I have noticed grit inside my filler neck opening. Some time ago I saw a renny with following cover, Which my dealer says is export only
Export only? He knows the Renegade is made in Italy, right? Anyway, the rubber filler cover appears to be something that appears mostly on 2016 models (my TH has one) but not all 2016s seem to have them from what I've seen.
To answer the first question: the 4-banger is coupled to a 9 spd auto to maximize fuel mileage--and indeed, a lot of the complaints I've read about it (such as the hunting you describe) sound like the programming could be better (myself, I bought a manual--I'll grind my own gears, thanks). 2nd question: I dunno about the weird rubber fuel cap thingy, mine has it but other Renegades I've looked at don't. Seems to make sense, and if mine didn't have one, I'd be checking to see if I could purchase one from parts and install it.
Yea Spitfire while checking the dealerships in California, I stopped at the parts counter. They told me it is available for $246. My question is I read about new renegades having inconsistencies in certain items being installed on the vehicle , I understand some items are standard and some are options but has anyone successfully dealt with getting resolution for an item that clearly should be standard but is missing from their vehicle? Dealer seems clueless
The rubber cap certainly seems to make sense, especially for a vehicle with 4WD that might be expected to operate in dusty environments on occasion. But $240 seems a lot of dosh for a piece of rubber. My friend's new Dodge truck, which also has a "capless" style filler, comes with a small plastic cap that fits snugly over the filler--does the same job, but looks like it's worth about $0.02.
I drive a 15 TH and I dont have a cap on my gas hole... Does seem like a necessity though. But Im not paying 240 for a 2inch rubber piece.
I just covered the gas filler with a cap off a Windex spray can. Fits perfect as is, no mods necessary to make it fit and the door closes as normal. The plastic cap measures about 2 ½ inches inside measurement. If you want a cap and save $245 try it out. I think the cap is pretty much a standard size for most spray cans.
