My wife, drove her Renegade to work this morning and the key would not pull out of the ignition. She reluctantly left the key in, turning off all electrics, got of work early and drove home. Parked in the garage, with said key still in the ignition. When I got home, 1. She was not amused! 2. Key would not come free .I called dealership (Landers Jeep,Shreveport) Called Chrysler roadside service. With the Jeep in the garage, the ignition would not start(nothing!) Tow guy with the worst teeth I've seen!(made my teeth ache) Jumped the (lil bastarde) Jeep, and it started and the key came out of the ignition! I still had it towed to Jeep! I am now expecting the dealership rigaramorerow (BS). I will post how this turns out.
I've heard of this. Apparently there is a safety mechanism that prohibits the driver from removing the key until half a second after the engine is cut off. Another owner on a different forum had the same problem. They said: I've heard this mechanism can be glitchy as well and can require a sensor replacement.
Seemed like the key/ignition was a little harder to work than my Renegade, however I'm just posting 1. to vent and 2. to bring up the issue, just to test the water to see f anybody is having weird issues with are little Italian friends.
My key does this alot. And its not a .5 second delay, mine was stuck for 20 mins yesterday. Very disappointed with how many issues i am having only 16 days after i bought mine. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
