Okay, last weekend I finally got ambitious and put my audio system, that has been in two other vehicles in some form or another, into the Renegade. If you are in JROG or JRL on facebook then you have already seen this. This is a complete swap out. New speaker wires (about 75 feet worth!!), speakers, everything, along with a sub in the back. I did have to purchase a new head unit to work with the iDatalink Maestro system to interface with the Jeep. There is really no avoiding that. I got a Kenwood DDX374BT. The OEM Uconnect i had was the 3.0 system with the 6 speaker setup in the Jeep. I have had no errors or any other random FCA silliness once I got everything put back together. Here is a link with photos and descriptions! https://www.flickr.com/gp/jplahm/22DMGg Hope this helps anyone who has been thinking about tackling something like this!
Nice work. I got mine changed too, used the maestro unit. Love it Sent from my LG-TP260 using ToasterJeep mobile app
Thanks. Probably not the best way to rewire things. I know there are probably pro installers who are going to see this and groan (speaker wires going to the door! D, but hey, it works! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using ToasterJeep mobile app
Please say it isn't so......im not an audio pro, but am a professional technician and that makes me ill.....youre shit is gonna short out soon because of that door tragedy. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Personally I would have routed the wires either in or with the door Loom. Preferably inside of the Loom but I haven't myself dug into the stereo on the vehicle I'm only speaking of my experiences. Sent from my SM-G930V using ToasterJeep mobile app
How about tracing the OEM wires used for the stock speakers which are routed through the loom. Then tap into those wires from inside the jeep. that way you can take advantage of the plumbing that's already there. Then on the door connect your new speakers to the oem wire.
