Just an FYI: I purchased a brand new 2015 1.4 turbo 6 speed Italian model a few months ago that was sitting forgotten on a dealer back lot. When I went in for my first oil change the Renegade was in need of factory software updating, 6 of them, and 4 hours download time. It made a difference since I noticed that my cruise control was a little sloppy, and my 5.0 radio was doing the dreaded cut out. If you are experiencing little electrical gremlins and don't visit your dealer for servicing, you may need a software update.
We experienced the same thing. Our 2015 Trailhawk was probably an early-production one to begin with, it came with the matching aluminum spare and the straight-sided cargo area panels. The vehicle had given a "service vehicle within xx miles" error-message and ultimately having drivability problems until it was taken to the dealer. They could not tell us why it displayed the code. I am very disappointed in this.
Hi TWX, Are you still experiencing concerns with your vehicle? I'd be happy to look into them further for you, just PM our page with your VIN and let me know. Andrea Jeep Social Care Specialist
Honestly at this point no one has been able to tell me why this thing thew the message up in the first place. That is what I want to know.
I believe it bases the message it sends on Mileage and how you drive compared to when you last went for oil. I hate this system personally, it's almost always wrong in my opinion, but if you're like my girlfriend and can't tell oil from windshield fluid, then I can see why it's there
That's not correct in our particular case. We did get a notice that the oil change was due. Within a couple-thousand miles we got the message "service within xx miles" but no more thorough description and the vehicle drivability got worse. Nothing that I could do would clear that message either. The way it displayed seems like more of a check engine light. That I wasn't provided with an answer as to why that message was displayed is what gives me cause for concern, once the warranty is over with I expect to be able to provide basic service to the vehicles I own, and if this thing is going to run contrary to that then flat-out we will not keep it if it proves to require expensive service from the dealer on a regular basis.
My oil light came on at 8000 miles. Stayed on for a few days then went off. I went ahead and changed the oil since I drive aggressively. Dealer is not too knowledgeable on Renegades. I tried to get remote start and they don't know anything about a remote start for them. Best Buy has them, and they do them for stick shifts as well.
