Got my 2016 Jeep Renegade TrailHawk on the 7th of October. Loved the look and value for the $$.
On the way home after purchase I noticed a soft knock noise over bumps. Thought nothing of it as I had stuffed a bunch of junk from my prior SUV into my Jeep and assumed something was not secured and moving around.
Cleaned out all the junk a day later and promptly got sick. As in I feel miserable for a week and don't drive my Jeep for a week. This sucked as all I could do is look at my TrailHawk from the window of my house lovingly.
Finally felt better and started driving my new ride. To my surprise the knock noise was still there. I took my time tracking down where it was coming from and discovered it was coming from the upper drivers front seatbelt mount and the adj mount felt extra loose. Any bump that caused a left/right motion caused a knock sound right next to my left ear. I called my dealership last week and an appt was set for today. Meantime the noise is so annoying plus anxiety hit that the mount might be loose and not hold in an accident I don't really drive my Jeep .
Drop off the TrailHawk today at 8am and get a loaner. A 2015 Chrysler 200 whose seatbelt mount is whisper silent like it should be and the mounting point (adj like my Renegade) was rock solid.
I get a call at around 2 telling me my Jeep was done. I'm informed that the dealer confirmed the noise on my TrailHawk but that they brought in 3 other Renegades and they all made the same noise so it was "functioning as designed".
I'm supposed to believe after dropping $30000 on a brand new vehicle I have to live with knocking noises next to my ear as normal? That the anchor point being so loose will really hold me if I ever do get into an accident? This is unacceptable if this is going to be the case cancel my purchase and I will go get the safe choice Honda HRV. I guarantee there will be no noise from the seatbelt anchor point nor will I feel unsafe driving a brand new vehicle!!

I think it's time to go to another dealer and move along.

I got mine, a limited right around the same time as you and I don't have any noises. Go to another dealer if you can.

We have a noise on passengers side seat belt tensioner, haven't worried about it may have it looked at later, but before writing off the TH find a more sympathetic dealer.

I took my TH to the dealer today to see if anything could be done about the rattle in the seat belt pivot. The tech confirmed that it was annoying but could do nothing about it. We both agreed it was an engineering design fault and decided to leave it at that. He did stress that it was NOT a safety concern. Maybe a fix is in the works from FCA?
