I'd show my rock sliders, but my pics are too big ☹️ At the top of this thread (in the link)I've got a couple pics showing my dirty TH the day I put them on http://www.jeeprenegadeforum.com/forum/498-aftermarket-add-ons/13369-rocky-road-outfitters-12.html
Do you think the Rock Sliders do a good enough job of deflecting body damage, since they aren't as wide as the Super Sliders? I like the look of them better, but I also like the idea of being able to stand on the Supers to remove the MySky panels.
I really thought if it this way : cheaper, does the same thing (moreorless) but I don't need a step. I could use these as a step if I really wanted to. The rails stuck out too far for my liking. I'm lazy when I get out of my Jeep so I didn't need another gap to clear (I'm vertically challenged) and I am not trying to do trails that would possibly cause body damage anyways, and this was more for the extra break over angle. And I don't wanna kill my rockers like I did on my ZJ back in the day
Thanks. I agree that the Super Sliders should be angled up a little more towards the body like you see on the Wranglers, instead of straight out. Also, you say you could stand on yours if you needed to. Would you mind taking a pic of them with the door open so I could see how much of a "step" it creates?
I was also really thinking about this, as it will help remove the MySky panels if I had something to stand on. My bike rack is on the back so no worries there.
2 more questions for you guys. 1 - If a shop installed your sliders how much did they charge? And does it void any warranties? 2 - How much do the sliders stick out from the body? As mentioned above, are they wide enough to hit the back of your legs when exiting the vehicle?
I got the super sliders and yes I rub the back of my leg on them getting out, they stick out about 5". As for warranties, I don't know what warranty you would be voiding. A quote for install was $200. I did it with my brother and it cost $18 in drill bits and $50 for a corded drill, never would have made it with battery powered drill. Driver side was a pain in the... almost every hole was through a weld and destroyed drill bits. Passenger side went on without a problem in about 30-40 minutes.
Thanks for the reply. I would just about rather pay somebody competent to do it if I could get it done for around 100 bucks. I have a heavy corded drill, but am hesitant to dive in to something like this on my own. I have worked on cars for years, but no body modifications as this is my first offroad vehicle.
Shipping is ridiculous to NY, but I might just bite the bullet because these super sliders are perfect for roof removal
damn. lookings at the site i thought its wouldve been literally a bolt in situation. not all this drilling shit. bummer.
It is a bummer. However, my shop said they'd install them for less than $200. That's roughly the same as what the other company's cost without install.
Just priced out the the super sliders and bumper w/ skidplate and it is $170 shipping to east Tennessee. Ouch! Anybody know of any discounts to offset shipping.
