Hello! i was researching communities based on my new purchase and this one came up, and after a little browsing i decided to join up. i just purchased a 2020 Jeep Renegade Sport 4x4; i really hope i continue to love it, so far first impressions are great. i know the trailhawk is the 'trail rated' version, but i hope that this sport will manage, as id like to try doing a little off roading (im in Michigan, so its not mountain climbing); and over time I plan to upgrade/modify as i learn the ins and outs of this hobby/sport.
Welcome to the forum. This is a great place to find info about the Renegades. I see a little box on your post with a ? inside, picture? We like pictures.
with being in quarantine; all i've really gotten to do is look at it in my garage. i havent even got more than 100 miles on it. that being said; its a lot better than my previous vehicle (ford Focus) and a lot more comfortable for a big/tall guy like myself (im 6'3") Wish i could have gotten the trailhawk package, but it wasnt available, AND it was a little higher payment then i wanted. im hoping the sport cn be made almost as capable.
Welcome! You'll be OK in the sport, it lacks some of the prowess of a Trailhawk, but it's still a capable offroad vehicle.
better then i had. auto Titanium, with all the transmission issues that Ford is currently in litigation about now. not even a hot-hatch, sedan
they didnt have great colors available at teh dealer; and i wasnt goping to wait for an order (my sister is the GSM, so i got a great deal) and i was already sold on this color when i was in teh lot. im hoping to get ahold of some skid plates for mine, as well as some rock bars, to keep it all safe if i get into trouble, and im ordering a roof rack too
We are just about in the same boat. I am only a year older and also my first Jeep.. around here they are all over the place. But then again I live in a real 'redneck' area for the most part. Id say a good 25-33% of the homes have some sort of 4x4 vehicle. - I hope we both get to enjoy this first time experience. - One thing I have noticed is there is little middle ground- you either love your jeep, or you dont.
so far - i love it! though i wish i got a manual + sunroof; does not make me love it less, but hindsight i think that would have been the icing on the cake. im in a very urban area, so the jeeps around me are latitudes and compass, with a few wranglers, ive only seen a spare few 'rene around. im itching to take mine off the road a little and get her a little dirty
I may wait to do that with mine- i want ot research the tires on it first- I dont know what type/style the last owner put on it- but it will be pretty soon. I am wanting to get a good rain and offroad tire- the BFG KO2 everyone loves for offroading ive been told are not the best for rain- and I believe it, the tred pattern on it looks like one that is not the best for getting rain out of the way. but theres another highend off road tire (I forget its name atm) that is a good balance with rain (which is a real concern where I am)
