Howdy! My 2015 Renegade Latitude is having a MySky roof issue. I've had it shut for most of the winter. Just tried opening/closing it a few times. It opens okay, but shutting it, it would run VERY slow and labored and sometimes, stopped and re-opened (backed up). I could shut it by holding the button with one hand and pulling the roof panel by hand. Took it to my dealer, they lubed the tracks. However, it actually shuts a bit faster, but "stutters" (or chatters) forward and shut. But here's the rub, they want to replace the motor (for over $900). I don't think it's a motor issue, as I'd think it would be slow to operate in both directions. Thinking more along the lines of something is either misaligned or still not lubed correctly. Any thoughts? (I did search previous posts and I'm not sure if it could be a trim or seal interference issue.) Thanks!
Hi Duck, I do apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with your MySky. It sounds like it needs more lube to me. no, really. lol Take off the MySky panel and add more lubrication to the rails. A silicone or Teflon spray. Or even a very thin light grease. By removing the MySky panel, you can see where to place the lube in the rails. Something that won't evaporate in a couple months or attract too much dust and dirt.
We are sorry to hear about this delay! Feel free to send our team a private message, and we would be happy to look into this further for you. Kathryn JeepCares
Had a similar issue only it got to the point where it wouldn’t close at all. Took panel out, cleaned tracks and sprayed some White lithium grease on the tracks and all the moving parts and it was as good as new. Hope this helps
