I just ordered from Rocky Road Outfitters. I'd like more info about the assertion that they are using Daystar lifts, because I had mine ordered through a professional who's worked with both and recommended RRO over Daystar.
There could be many reasons the shop might recommend the RRO over the Daystar, I do believe the RRO kit is actually manufactured by Daystar, (The Picture of the Red Jeeps on RRO's website is actually a Daystar Picture!). Daystar claims the spacers in their kit are Poly, RRO Says they don't use Poly. The Kit might actually be spec'd differently by RRO for there sale, but still manufactured by Daystar, like the RRO kit might use steel in places where the Daystar is using Poly, which is fairly common practice in the industry. The shop you're working with might have a better relationship with RRO, getting a better price or support. I'd just flat out ask the shop why they prefer the RRO, There's no reason I can think of that they wouldn't tell you, and if they won't, then I'd be very leery of the shop.
That's a good observation about the picture. Yeah that's the exact reason he recommended RRO over Daystar. The poly components. The price was different as well which is why I was surprised to hear someone say they're the same. Doesn't matter to me in the end. Just as long as it's a quality product that doesn't end up causing me issues.
I think you've done OK, If I were choosing between the two kits, I'd choose the RRO kit too, It's like GMC versus Chevy, you get the same basic truck from both, but the GMC will usually spec better components from the parts manufacturers.
Hey David, Nossir, not yet. I ordered the lift and the sliders at the same time. RRO rep told my shop (getting professionally installed because I'm lazy/ignorant) that he was on back order and might not have the parts for a month or more. Projected install date is mid/late June. I'll definitely update.
Thanks for letting me know. I’ve been eyeing this lift for a while. But undecided because some are telling me to go with Avid but I read too many posts on other forums saying the Avid 1.5” lift makes a lot of noise, mostly from the swaybar.
