Has anyone seen the information on the Compass Trailhawk? Looks pretty sharp, will have .3 inches more clearance than our renny trailhawks. Got towhooks and stuff. I know our Rennys will have better angles, but think this will damage the renegade sales? Think it will out work the Renny? Post your opinions here!

Nah. Renegade looks different than all the pack of small SUVs! Being different is a cool thing. The compass looks like the rest of new crossovers out there.

Indeed I'm not a big fan of the scrunched up Grand Cherokee look. However it will be as capable as the Renny with a little bit worse angles. With the same drivetrain and similar price point. It has to make me wonder about the Rennys long term future in the lineup!

Due to size, and its starting cost. The Renny is now the entry level vehicle at Jeep. Taking the spot that the patriot and compass once held :O

IMO aftermarket part suppliers will also help carry the load on how these jeeps going further and better from other crossovers. Without their help, consumers will get bored eventually.

As nice as the compass is, I think it'll still be the rental queen of the lineup. The thing just doesn't speak to me the way renny and Wrangler do. So while they may have a off roady trim on (literally) every Jeep, some of them will be very rare to see off road.

But we will have to see when consumers get it. Besides, I have a little part of old compass stuck in my mind.. hopefully we can all ignore the old

I just want the Renegade to be better basically haha. I don't want the Renegade to become the blacksheep, or the buttend of the jeep line up jokes.

Sorry to disappoint you Lawrence, but Renegade is - the black sheep of the jeep family (in a good way I hope). It's the "rebel" who dis-obeyed the "protocol" and ran away from the pack with an attitude. That makes it more exciting because it's uniqueness and "out of the box" design and ability will stand out above the rest and so it will not end up as a joke. That is why renegades are being talked about by the majority of cookie-cutter small SUV crossovers. Just look at them compared to yours... they all look a like and yours is different... that is why you are the renegade :)

Oh yeah well I get that! I love that about them. I just saw the bigger tires on the compass trailhawk and all the fixins and got all salty because I didn't want jeep to downplay the renny hahah. Its a silly thought but none the less I thought I would share.

My only beef about this is because the wheel-well can not take 30" KO2.

I feel the exact same way. I have a TJ. Saw the Renegade and had to get one! [emoji1360]

Coming from a KK, & owning only Wranglers prior, I like the look & feel of the Renegade over the Compass or Patriot. Past Compass's looked so cheap to me, & even though the new Trailhawk version is definitely looking better, i cant help but still look at them & think cheap. I do wish Jeep would have put the 6sp manual in the Trailhawk Renny w/ the 2.4L. But I'm learning to love the 9s auto.

I remember how disappointed I was when the Caliber/Compass/Patriot set came out. Discussion at the time implied that the Compass would essentially be the rally edition of the Caliber, which itself was the Neon replacement. Unfortunately by the time they went from concept to production vehicle, they so watered-down the looks that the Compass would never be an option for me. The Patriot had some style appeal, but still seemed to be a mall parking lot cruiser.

I don't have any beef with this new Compass, especially if they manage to put back into at least the Trailhawk model what was taken out. Remember, in some ways this is the same argument made about the Renegade, and it appears that the Renegade is better off-road than detractors originally expected.

I'd be more worried about the current model Cherokee than the Renegade, this thing seems more poised to eat its lunch. Similar size, similar price point. Cherokee seems more inclined to bottoming out offroad too, so if the Compass' clearance is better then this could really affect the similar-sized offering.

Renegade will probably still appeal to people that want capability in the smallest package available, which is an advantage for those with parking issues and those looking for the best price.

Imo, in looks the compass looks so much better than the juke faced Cherokee. I hate Cherokees to no avail now, which Is sad because I used to like them(and their commanchie varient)

In size I doubt that it'll matter too much, it's a hair narrower than Renegades or Cherokees, (renegades being widest) a middle between the two in length, and I think it's the most spacious inside. It's a odd to me that they make 3 Cuvs, but then again they're practically the only FCA company making SUVs(barring MB Maserati ext.), and I think make the most money for them.

Well, something to keep in mind about Jeep making so many similar SUVs, is if they really are very similar in their underpinnings but the buying public doesn't see them as similar, that means that Jeep has a larger number of options. If there were say, ten CUVs on the market (I know, not actual numbers) and Jeep makes three that are perceived as unique, then Jeep offers 30% of the available total.

GM managed to do this for years and years, you'd have nearly identical vehicles from Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and even some years Cadillac, but they were different enough that buyers didn't feel that they were the same vehicle. Unfortunately for GM that started to change when imports became more and more prevalent and their boxy chassis got dated; they sort of fixed it in the nineties with the larger FWD cars where the quarter panels, door exteriors, and fenders got greater differences in styling, but in the end they were not able to sustain it.

Hopefully if Jeep does continue to offer several similar vehicles they'll manage to keep them distinct enough to avoid cannibalizing their own sales.

I too sometimes wonder if I should have waited for the new Compass TH rather than the Renegade TH, but then I console myself as I consider how many different countries FCA will be making this vehicle out of in so many combinations. I tell myself that the first year models surely will be buggy. I know the new Compass may be a home run, but the Renegade is now on its 3rd year and is still getting updates, whereas the new Compass is starting in its first year. Surely there will many updates ahead as FCA sorts out all the many combinations they have for this vehicle. Many many years ago, I told myself I would never buy a vehicle the first year it is released for this same reason.

I just went to the local dealership yesterday to pick up my new Renegade TH and they had a red Compass Limited 4x4 on the showroom floor. Looked sharp, with a little more interior room than the Renny. Quite a bit higher priced, though. Seems to me that both the Renegade and Compass will find plenty of market share.

Me? I think the Renegade has more of a true Jeep look with the round headlights. No regrets with my purchase.
